Telling the DCR story in Tokyo

Back in October Digital Control Room (DCR) were delighted to be invited to attend the RegSum event in Tokyo, Japan. Organised by Nikkei, Japan’s largest financial newspaper, they identified DCR through our inclusion on the RegTech 100, a list of Global Regulation Technology Providers created by FinTech.Global. We are the only RegTech business listed for GDPR in the UK, Ireland and US!

At the RegSum event on Wednesday 20 December David Karl, our General Counsel and GDPR expert, had three minutes to present our innovative GDPR Platform. DCR was the only GDPR software solution provider at the event and the Japanese businesses represented at RegSum were quick to realise the benefits. In fact, we were offered an additional showcase slot the day after to explain our GDPR platform to a select number of participants.

RegSum was a prestigious event with participants from several multinational organisations who had business interests (and clients) in Europe. It was a privilege to be asked to present and take part in discussions within the workshops covering regulation related topics such as GovTech, FinTech, Artificial Intelligence and compliance.

The Japanese attitude to GDPR

During our time in Tokyo, we were also able to meet with Japanese organisations that had a presence in Europe and were serious about getting prepared for the GDPR.

The Japanese attitude to the GDPR is to ensure that they are compliant as soon as possible – to maintain reputation, enhance trust in their brand and to avoid any potential fines.

We had a very successful week in Tokyo – having attended the RegSum event, securing external meetings and creating new relationships. In fact, we are already planning a return visit to Japan!
